Marketing Communications Manager

Christine is a rare professional who insists on leaving every organization better than she found it. Christine assertively and effectively set up a marketing communications function, giving me and my team the assets, technology and lead generation engine we needed to reach, engage and close prospects.

Christine Ann Olivas

Founder + Chief Strategist

I am an experienced executive with 12 years of marketing, advertising, business development, branding and strategy experience. I recently transitioned from a VP of Marketing role at a growing startup to a full-time consultancy practice.

I have worked with B2B, B2C and B2B2C clients in a significant number of industries/verticals (technology, education, healthcare, insurance, financial services, tourism and consumer goods). Enterprise brands I’ve helped include Nike, P&G, 3M, Starwood Hotels, GE Capital, Toyota, Salesforce and Sage Software, but I’ve also partnered with many smaller or scaling companies/startups. With this variety, I’ve honed a unique skill: helping all types of organizations build new departments, capabilities and disciplines.

In addition to my marketing and strategy career, I am a published fiction writer, with short stories in literary journals. I am also a featured Editorial Contributor for Career Contessa, featuring work/career advice for Millennial women. I earned a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in American Studies and Italian from Stanford University.

Abigail has over 10 years of experience as right-hand, in all things, to numerous C-level executives in creative fields. Most recently, she lent her jill-of-all-trades capabilities to the events + hospitality industry.

She joined Christine Olivas Consulting in 2019 and will be lending her project management, creative, and technical skills to the business and its clients.

Christine seems to have expertise in every aspect of marketing, having been in industries ranging from startups to advertising to shopper marketing. Given her wide range of experience and category expertise, she helped us see the same old problems in a totally new light.

See how I can help.

I help companies of all sizes and industries develop new marketing, strategy or customer experience capabilities. This is useful in several scenarios:

  • Scaling startups that don’t yet have an established marketing/growth function

  • Established organizations that want to add a new capability (e.g., retail strategy, Account Based Marketing, sales enablement, etc.)

  • Any company that doesn’t have a long-term need for an executive-level marketer but could use the support of an “interim” VP

Whatever the use case, my tireless focus is on leaving each organization with the infrastructure needed to effectively do—and carry on—the work. This means clients don’t get vague strategy documents, regurgitated messaging, or assets they can’t use. Instead, I help build the foundation—pulling from key elements such as technology, vendors, budget, marketing charter, org chart/hiring plan, creative templates—then provide a comprehensive, easy-to-follow playbook for executing on that framework.

My value proposition is simple: less talk, more action.

Very rarely do you find a thinker, a leader and a doer all rolled into one, but that’s what you get with Christine. She’s a creative collaborator with an unparalleled work ethic. She leads, plans and executes projects in a meticulously efficient manner while simultaneously keeping the big picture in mind.

Christine’s a warrior. She brings with her that perfect balance of big picture vision, tactical strategy, and the willingness to get down in the trenches to do the work that needs doing. When charged with developing a parent outreach capability for the first time, no small puzzle to solve, she was constantly active in holding focus groups, building processes, shaping strategies, and collaborating. We are better for having had her on the team.
— Adam Bunke, UI/UX Director, CareDox

I've learned by doing.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a strong Point of View on effective leadership, impactful marketing, and women’s career issues. Here is some of my thought leadership on those key topics.

Grey Global works with some of the biggest consumer brands in the world, many of whom were clamoring for new, innovative ways to sell their products online and in-store. After working with Christine at a previous agency, I knew she would be the perfect person to develop and formalize a new retail strategy practice—and help both internal and external clients take full advantage.
